

Who We Are
Mission: To create a place where students feel safe to tackle obstacles and accomplish all of their goals.
Youth Transformed for Life (YTL) is a nonprofit organization working in Asheville and Buncombe County with youth who are disadvantaged, assisting them to reach their personal, educational, and professional goals. YTL Training Programs works to support communities that are disenfranchised, and their children and families, as they strive to succeed in an inequitable system, overcome gaps of disparity, and work toward prosperity. YTL envisions a contagious community of compassion in which all human beings are guaranteed access to proper education, health services, safety, and economic stability.
What We Do
YTL implements a variety of programs to help equip youth with skills needed to be successful in all walks of life. YTL offers relationship building and mentoring, assistance and support with school work and home life, college preparation, connections with community resources, opportunities to volunteer in the community, mindfulness practices, and social skill building activities. YTL programs include:
- G.R.A.C.E. for Teens/R.O.S.E.S. and MOSS Afterschool Program works with teens in grades 6 through 12, providing twice monthly recreational trips, academic tutoring, and planned lessons on becoming mindful about themselves, handling stress, and learning about themselves and their culture.
- G.R.A.C.E. for Teens/R.O.S.E.S. and MOSS Summer Program serves teens ages 12 – 18, providing two to four trips per week to a nearby outdoor pool, skating rink, or park, and a weekly special event or field trip..
- G.R.A.C.E. for Teens Advocacy Program works with students, families, and the school system to create a successful learning environment for participants by teaching students how to use their voices in family, school, and community settings, and by supporting the practice of mindfulness in providing opportunities for self-advocacy in all settings.
