Who We Are

Mission: To transform donated cars into reliable transportation for working families who need them.

Working Wheels is a nonprofit organization working in the Asheville area that partners with nonprofits to provide low-cost cars and repairs to our neighbors in need in Western North Carolina. The cost of a car repair can be a burden on working families. Without transportation, it is difficult to get kids to school, to keep a job, or to receive medical care. We envision assisting people in need by opening the door to further education, better employment opportunities, greater self-sufficiency, and improved quality of life.

What We Do

Working Wheels collects and repairs donated vehicles and connects the repaired vehicles to the people who need them the most. The organization uses a collaborative model to partner locally with:

  • Social Service agencies that identify program participants who then apply to purchase Working Wheels vehicles at a reduced price.
  • Faith communities and other sponsors that raise awareness, provide volunteers, and contribute to the parts and repair fund.
  • Mechanics who assess and repair donated vehicles.

Working Wheels also sells some repaired cars to the public and uses the proceeds to fund their mission.
