Who We Are

United Way of the Wabash Valley works with, and for, our community to create prosperity. We know that with each family’s success, we are stronger as a community. But we do not do it alone. United Way is a collaborator and convener, working with other organizations in our community to address pressing issues that prevent families from reaching their full potential.

What We Do

United Way of the Wabash Valley offers many opportunities for volunteers to serve our community. Wabash Valley Neighbors Helping Neighbors (WVNHN) empowers people to care for each other by helping with simple projects in their homes and lives. WVNHN has an easy-to-use platform, wvnhn.org. Residents can submit their repair or aid requests on this website, and volunteers can identify projects and sign up to complete them. Once you identify a project, there will be guidelines to follow when registering as a volunteer. Whether it is basic home repair, maintenance project, basic yard cleanup, snow shoveling, landscaping project, technology, paperwork assistance, assembling a bookshelf, or a helping hand can show people that they are cared for and not alone. Serve the Valley is an annual summer opportunity coordinated by United Way. Serve the Valley volunteers from around the community join local nonprofits to work on one-time projects. The event usually takes place in July; interested volunteers should check the Serve the Valley website (https://uwwv.org/serve-the-valley/) beginning in June. Throughout the year, United Way of the Wabash Valley posts additional volunteer opportunities for the community. These opportunities can be found at uwwv.org.
