Who We Are
Mission: To create opportunity from conflict.
Founded in 1984, The Mediation Center is a nonprofit organization providing conflict resolution services in Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, and Polk Counties of Western North Carolina. The Mediation Center is a safe and neutral environment for people who are experiencing conflict with families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, or within organizations.
What We Do
The Mediation Center helps individuals, youth, families, and community groups through a variety of programs:
- Adult Mediation Program provides conflict resolution assistance for a wide variety of family and community conflicts, as well as re-entry mediation for women who are incarcerated, Medicaid mediation, and meeting and retreat facilitation.
- Family Visitation Program provides supervised visitation and safe exchange services by and between parents, serving families with a history of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and stalking.
- Trainings and Workshops offer instruction on conflict resolution, communication skills, facilitation, and mediation, provided to the public or customized for community groups.
