Volunteers will help with sorting, labeling, weighing, and packing various food items to help feed hungry Iowans. The projects vary day to day and volunteers regularly work with fresh produce, dry goods, and other donations.
Age Requirements:
Minimum age: 10 years
Volunteers ages 10 - 15 years must be accompanied by an adult/guardian who is also registered for the shift.
Qualifications:
Able to stand, move, bend and twist for the duration of your shift.
Able to read printed dates on packages and weight on scales.
Lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Some positions may require lifting up to 40 pounds.
Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers without the proper attire will not be able to work inside the Volunteer Center. Please dress comfortably and in layers. The temperature in the Volunteer Center can vary.
Personal Items: Lockers are provided to store any personal items. Cell phones are allowed for photos. We ask that any phone calls be taken in the Volunteer Lobby.
Support/Training: Each shift includes a welcome, training, time to work on the project, and a wrap-up. Volunteer Center Coordinators will be present throughout the entire shift for support.
