Volunteer: Spring Greens Event Planning Committee MemberJoin DMARC as an event committee member for its signature and annual event, “Spring Greens”. Planned for Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Capital Square in downtown Des Moines (6-9 pm) the event's purpose is three-fold: #1) to celebrate the work that DMARC does every day; #2) to raise funds for our mission to meet basic human need in the Greater Des Moines area and #3) to celebrate the Spring season with food that is served with a green or spring twist to those that attend! You can help on anyone (or more) of the following committees: Sponsorship Committee - Recruits sponsors and works to ensure that event reaches sponsorship goal. Auction Committee - Recruit unique live auction items for the event.) Raffle Committee - Solicit one large raffle raising and sell raffle tickets. Communications & Media Relations Committee - Coordinates event printed materials and media promotions. Vendor Recruitment Committee - Recruits food and beverage vendors to participate in the event. Logistics Committee - Creates event day time line, needs list and recruits any needed volunteers to staff the event to ensure its smooth running. Volunteer: Food Delivery DriverDescription Many of our delivery recipients have come to depend on the DMARC Delivery Program that was born out of the necessity during the pandemic. We need volunteers to deliver boxes of food to home addresses to serve our community. Shifts are Monday- Friday from 9am-11am, please sign up for specific shifts on our volunteer portal to keep an accurate schedule. Food Delivery Driver | DMARC (galaxydigital.com) Sign up for a shift here! Key Responsibilities: Pick up packages of food from the DMARC warehouse at 100 Army Post Road, East donation door. Deliver food to a set number of homes within the Des Moines metro Drop food items to the home (porch, entryway vestibule if open, front steps), ringing the doorbell or intercom.Support/Training: Volunteers will be provided with instructions and ongoing guidance from a DMARC warehouse staff person at the beginning and for the duration of each shift. DMARC will contact volunteers the day before a shift to confirm the need for assistance and place available volunteer drivers on our route schedule. Qualifications: Able to stand, move, and lift up to 35 lbs. Must have a cell phone, reliable transportation, and the ability to provide copies of current driver's license and current auto insurance Must have the flexibility to adhere to an on-call schedule; shifts will depend on the volume of deliveries needed for a given dayDress Code: Please wear clothing that is presentable and appropriate for variable weather conditions--volunteers will be walking to and from personal vehicles for deliveries. Blue DMARC volunteer tee shirts are available upon request. Age Requirement: For safety reasons, all volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (over the age of 18) at all times during their volunteer shift. Volunteer: DMARC-Ket Food Pantry VolunteerPlease join us as a DMARC Food Pantry Volunteer! Volunteering at the DMARC-Ket Food Pantry is just like helping a friend shop for groceries! As a food pantry volunteer, you will assist visitors in selecting their food items after they have gone through the intake process. Help visitors choose food items and bag items. Carry items to visitors’ car or other modes of transportation as needed. Assisting Food Pantry Manager with miscellaneous tasks as needed. Read and comply with any posted daily directives from the Food Pantry Manager regarding the handling of any special food products such as produce or frozen food. Utilize safe food-handling and food storage practices.Time Requirement: Various shifts available throughout the month and week! New DMARC-Ket Hours! We are now open daily, Monday- Friday, from 9am-5pm. We are also open the first Saturday of the month from 9am-1pm.
