Who We Are

Mission: To spark imagination and foster lifelong curiosity.

The Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) is a nonprofit, interactive science museum serving western North Carolina and offering opportunities for experiential science learning, discovery, and exploration. It is a growing local science museum with interactive, hands-on exhibits for science lovers of all ages!

What We Do

AMOS explores the connections between astronomy, geology, weather, climate, ecology, and paleontology through a variety of programs geared toward a broad age range:

  • Exhibits and Displays such as Southern Appalachian Forest, Colburn Hall of Minerals, Terra box where visitors manipulate topography, Dinosaur and Paleontology Exhibit, Panorama Screen for Planetary Exploration, STEM Laboratory, and French Broad River Water Table.
  • Educational Programs including STEM Workshops such as Robotics and 3-D printing, after-school programming where students build their own interest-based curriculum, in-house field trips for preK – 8th grade, and summer camps that cover the range of STEAM themes.
  • Events designed specifically for groups, for adults only, or for children and families.
