Who We Are

Equal Plates Project is a local nonprofit strengthening Western North Carolina’s local food system by connecting farms to ovens to community.

We source high-quality ingredients from local farms to prepare nourishing meals for underserved communities and neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Our kitchens, in Central United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church, emphasize fresh, local ingredients to nourish and connect our community.

What We Do

Mission: To support local farmers, address food insecurity, and build community through scratch-cooked meals.

FARM:  We purchase at least 50% of our ingredients from small WNC farms at fair prices

OVEN: We transform locally-sourced ingredients into nourishing meals, thanks to our dedicated chefs and volunteers

COMMUNITY: We partner with community organizations to share thousands of meals each week with neighbors facing food insecurity
