Read Elementary School

Read Elementary is a diverse Kindergarten through 5th grade neighborhood school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. As of the 2022-23 school year, Read has 378 students. In terms of demographics, 53.33% of the student population are students of color, 15% are students with disabilities, 6.6% are English language learners, and 62% are identified as economically disadvantaged. Read pulls from eight neighborhood associations, and includes a large representation from the growing Oshkosh refugee community. In addition, the school has a high transient population represented by a turnover rate of 23.8%.

Read Elementary School’s mission is to “support our community in a healthy and safe environment to ensure that all students learn and succeed in life.” Read goes beyond meeting the needs of its 378 students to support the families and is an integral part of the community and the surrounding neighborhood.
