Mission: To strengthen Jewish identity, celebrates Jewish culture, and builds inclusive community.
The Asheville Jewish Community Center (JCC) is a nonprofit community organization that achieves this mission through a wide variety of programs for people from all backgrounds, at every stage of life. JCC focuses on ensuring that community members are supported through every life stage, with programs that enhance community life and a sense of belonging.
What We Do
The Asheville Jewish Community Center provides opportunities for everyone in Western North Carolina to connect to Jewish life and culture by offering numerous programs serving young children, youth, and adults, including:
- Hilde’s House: Infant and toddler classrooms promoting young children’s developmental growth and independence through one-on-one interactions.
- Shalom Children’s Center: Full-day 2-year-old, 3-year-old, and pre-k classrooms where children are engaged in explorations of themes and concepts to encourage learning across multiple disciplines.
- JCC Kids: After-school enrichment program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade that includes homework help, structured games that enhance intellectual development, and a focus on values.
- Camp Rauch: Weekly summer camp sessions for first through eighth graders with activities such as swimming and sports, creativity and crafts, nature and gardening, and dance and music,
- Leaders-in-Training Program: Summer training for rising 9th and 10th graders to learn leadership skills through assisting at Camp Rauch and Shalom Children’s Center.
- Aquatics Programs: Swim and dive lessons for children and youth, summer swim team for swimmers ages 6 – 16, and scheduled member open swims.
- Adult Social and Cultural Programs: Variety of adult social programming, including potluck dinners, lectures, discussions, trips, parties, classes, games, and other experiences.
- Israel Programming: Education opportunities for adults promoting personal connections with Israel through an Israeli book club, a monthly Israeli film series, annual speakers, cooking classes, and visiting Schlihim.
