Mission: To strengthen community by eliminating the race-based opportunity and achievement gap for students through education.

OpenDoors Asheville is a local nonprofit that designs and facilitates programs and coordinates tailored educational services for students to allow success in school. We offer a range of support to families, thanks to funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations who are interested in innovative effective social service practices.

OpenDoors Asheville works collaboratively with students, families, schools, and community partners to provide educational supports and resources for students moving To and Through College and/or developing careers after high school. As part of staying connected with students and families throughout this educational process, Open Doors engages in the following:

• Educational Consultation: Direct services for individual students in grades K – 10 including STEAM-focused enrichment activities (outside the classroom), year-round homework help, academic assessments (through community partners), and summer and extracurricular planning, as well as educational advocacy, advice, and information for parents, students, schools, and other partnering organizations.
• College Application Guidance: Assistance with the college selection and application process for students in grades 11 and 12, including college tours; assistance with FAFSA applications, college applications, and scholarship research; and on-campus summer experiences. 
• College Attendance Support: Scholarship funds for tuition, fees, books, and supplies for eligible students; access to internships, mentoring, financial advising, and progress monitoring; and assistance with planning for next steps after college graduation. 
• Career Development Support: Resume workshops, job networking opportunities, and career-development program referrals provided to students who choose not to attend college.
