June 12-13 - Volunteer Builder for Kids' Cedar Playhouse
- June 12, 9am-12pm, or 12-4pm - need 3-4 volunteers
- June 13, 9am-12pm, or 12-4pm - need 3-4 volunteers
 

Job Overview: Read Elementary School is embarking on an exciting project to build a cedar playhouse that will serve as a versatile play space for students. This playhouse will be designed to foster imaginative play, allowing children to use it as a restaurant, house, store, or whatever their creativity inspires. We are seeking enthusiastic and capable volunteers who are interested in construction and carpentry to help bring this project to life.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in the construction of a kid-friendly cedar playhouse under the guidance of the Project Coordinator.
  • Carry, lift, and maneuver building materials weighing over 20 pounds.
  • Safely use tools and equipment necessary for construction tasks.
  • Work cooperatively with a team of volunteers to assemble parts, including walls, roof, doors, and decorative elements.
  • Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe handling techniques.
  • Possibly stand on ladders or scaffolds to work on higher parts of the playhouse.
  • Participate in preparing the site and cleaning up after construction is completed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing more than 20 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing on ladders and working at heights.
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, or DIY projects is highly desirable.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
