Purpose: Act as a point of contact for clients, staff, donors, and other community members. Essential to the operation of Pillars, the Front Desk Assistant greets visitors & clients, answers & directs phone calls, monitors the lobby, provides donation intake & assistance, along with other administrative tasks as needed.
Location: The Front Desk Assistant is a volunteer role at two Pillars’ locations
- Pillars Adult & Family Shelter; 400 N. Division Street, Appleton, WI 54911
- Pillars Resource Center; 129 S. Mason Street, Appleton, WI 54914
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the front door ensuring everyone who enters signs in & out
- Greet everyone that enters the building, asking if they need assistance
- Answer & direct phone calls from clients, donors, and community members
- Update the shelter wait list as people call for to check-in
- Provide clients with requested items through the voucher program
- Provide receipts and write thank-you notes to community donors
- Train new volunteers as they are onboarded
Shift Times:
- 2-hour shift (minimum) at the Adult & Family Shelter, daily from 7:30am - 9pm
- 2-hour shift (minimum) at the Resource Center, weekdays from 8:30am - 4pm
All new volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation session.
