Description

Purpose: Act as a point of contact for clients, staff, donors, and other community members. Essential to the operation of Pillars, the Front Desk Assistant greets visitors & clients, answers & directs phone calls, monitors the lobby, provides donation intake & assistance, along with other administrative tasks as needed.

Location: The Front Desk Assistant is a volunteer role at two Pillars’ locations

  • Pillars Adult & Family Shelter; 400 N. Division Street, Appleton, WI 54911
  • Pillars Resource Center; 129 S. Mason Street, Appleton, WI 54914

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the front door ensuring everyone who enters signs in & out
  • Greet everyone that enters the building, asking if they need assistance
  • Answer & direct phone calls from clients, donors, and community members
  • Update the shelter wait list as people call for to check-in
  • Provide clients with requested items through the voucher program
  • Provide receipts and write thank-you notes to community donors
  • Train new volunteers as they are onboarded

Shift Times:

  • 2-hour shift (minimum) at the Adult & Family Shelter, daily from 7:30am - 9pm
  • 2-hour shift (minimum) at the Resource Center, weekdays from 8:30am - 4pm

All new volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation session.
